| Renungan hari ini dari bacaan Yesaya 48: 17 – 19; Matius 11: 16 – 19.“Kami meniup seruling bagimu tetapi kamu tidak menari, kami menyanyikan kidung duka, tetapi kamu tidak berkabung”. (Mat. 11:18) |
Melalui Nabi Yesaya, Allah memperingatkan bangsa Israel agar mereka mematuhi dan menjalankan perintah Tuhan. Mereka harus hidup sesuai dengan hukum Taurat yang diberikan Allah kepada Musa di Gunung Sinai. “Sekiranya engkau memperhatikan perintah-perintah-Ku maka damai sejahteramu akan seperti sungai yang tidak pernah kering” (Yes. 48:18). Dalam hal ini jika mereka sungguh-sungguh menjalankan perintah Tuhan, kepada mereka dianugerahkan berkat yang berlimpah. Keturunan mereka akan seperti pasir di laut atau bintang di langit dan nama mereka terus bergaung di sepanjang sejarah umat manusia.
Ajakan ini juga berlaku untuk kita sebagai Israel baru dalam Kristus yang telah menyelamatkan kita melalui darah-Nya.
Tokoh Yohanes Pembaptis merupakan figur penting yang mempersiapkan jalan bagi kedatangan Sang Mesias. Dia menunjukkan kepada orang Israel cara menyambut Kerajaan Allah. Namun, tanggapan orang Israel tidak begitu menggembirakan. Mereka tidak mau mendengarkan dan mengikuti petunjuknya. Yesus mengkritik sikap mereka itu dengan mengumpamakan mereka mirip dengan anak-anak yang tidak setuju yang mengeluh karena teman-temanya tidak mengikuti apa yang mereka harapkan: Kami meniup seruling bagimu, tetapi kamu tidak menari, kami menyanyikan kidung duka, tetapi kamu tidak berkabung (Mat. 11:16-17). Mereka diidentikkan dengan orang yang meniup seruling dan menyanyikan kidung duka.
Orang-orang sezaman Yesus itu mirip dengan nenek moyang mereka, generasi yang tidak setia, berdosa, dan pemberontak di padang gurun (Ul. 1:35; 32:5.20). Kekerasan hati mereka membuat mereka selalu punya dalih untuk menolak dan menyalahkan utusan Tuhan. Ketika Yohanes datang dan menjalani hidup asketis: tidak makan dan tidak minum, mereka menyebut dia kerasukan setan. Ketika ia mengajak mereka untuk berkabung dan bertobat untuk mempersiapkan hari pengadilan, mereka malah meniup seruling. Sebaliknya, ketika Yesus, Anak Manusia, datang, makan dan minum, mereka menjuluki Dia seorang pelahap dan peminum, sahabat pemungut cukai dan orang berdosa. Artinya, ketika Yesus datang membawa kabar baik dan mengundang orang masuk dalam persekutuan penuh sukacita, mereka malah minta ia puasa “kami menyanyikan kidung duka, dan kamu tidak berkabung”. Mereka selalu punya alasan untuk mengabaikan utusan Tuhan, apa pun cara yang dipakai.
Di masa Adven ini, dalam mempersiapkan kedatangan Yesus, marilah kita menghindari sikap orang sezaman dengan Yesus dan sezaman dengan Matius. Kita buang segala bentuk kekerasan hati, dan mulai lebih terbuka mendengarkan Sabda Tuhan yang menuntun kita melalui para pewarta. Jangan sampai kita termasuk dalam generasi yang sesat dan bodoh. Tidak mncari-cari dalih untuk menyalahkan orang-orang yang memberi petunjuk menuju kepada kehidupan, meskipun jalan yang mereka tunjukkan mungkin menuntut pengorbanan. Bentuk pengorbanan beragam sesuai dengan tanggung jawab yang diberikan: entah dalam keluarga, pekerjaan, atau dalam masyarakat umum. Kita diundang oleh Yohanes dan Yesus untuk mau terlibat dalam tugas dan pelayanan, bukan hanya bebicara dan mengritik para pelayan.
