Bacaan hari ini menampilkan Elia sebagai nabi yang “bangkit bagaikan api”, seorang yang hidup dalam kuasa Allah sehingga melalui dirinya umat dapat melihat bahwa Tuhan sungguh hadir dan berkarya. Dalam Injil, Yesus menjelaskan bahwa Yohanes Pembaptis adalah “Elia yang akan datang,” nabi yang mempersiapkan jalan bagi Mesias melalui hidup yang sederhana, tegas, dan penuh seruan pertobatan. Kedua bacaan ini mengingatkan kita bahwa panggilan kenabian bukan milik tokoh-tokoh besar saja, tetapi juga menjadi identitas setiap orang yang telah dibaptis.
Melalui baptisan, kita dipanggil menjadi nabi pada zaman ini. Tugas utama seorang nabi bukan hanya bersuara lantang atau menunjukkan kesalehan, tetapi terutama menghadirkan Allah lewat cara hidup sehari-hari. Tuhan ingin hadir melalui kata-kata yang meneguhkan, kesabaran dalam keluarga, kejujuran dalam pekerjaan, kepedulian terhadap yang terluka, dan kesetiaan dalam hal-hal kecil. Identitas kenabian bukan soal jabatan, tetapi sejauh mana hidup kita memantulkan kehadiran Tuhan.
Segala bentuk pelayanan—baik di paroki, dalam pendampingan sesama, maupun melalui tindakan kecil—bukanlah ajang untuk menonjolkan diri. Pelayanan adalah kesempatan menjadi perpanjangan tangan Allah. Melalui kita, Tuhan ingin menyentuh dan menguatkan orang lain. Karena itu, tindakan pelayanan harus transparan: yang tampak bukan kita, tetapi kasih dan belas kasih Allah yang bekerja melalui kita. Ketika kita memberi tanpa pamrih atau tetap setia meski tidak dihargai, pada saat itulah kita mengizinkan Tuhan memakai hidup kita.
Namun, pelayanan murni lahir dari pertobatan yang sejati. Yohanes Pembaptis menjadi teladan karena ia datang bukan untuk mencari pengaruh, tetapi untuk membawa orang kembali kepada Allah. Pertanyaannya: apakah pelayanan kita murni bagi Tuhan, atau terselip keinginan dihormati? Pertobatan mengajak kita meninggalkan motivasi-motivasi itu dan belajar menyerahkan diri sepenuhnya kepada-Nya.
Penyerahan diri bukan berarti pasrah tanpa usaha, tetapi merendahkan hati agar Kristus tampak dalam tindakan kita. Dengan bekerja dan melayani setia tanpa mencari pujian, kita berharap setiap orang yang bertemu dengan kita dapat melihat Kristus hadir.
Semoga Roh Kudus menolong kita menjadi cermin kehadiran Allah bagi sesama. Amin.
