| Renungan hari ini dari bacaan 2Samuel 11:1-4a; Markus 4:26-34 “Beginilah hal Kerajaan Allah itu: Seumpama orang yang menaburkan benih di tanah, lalu pada malam hari ia tidur dan pada siang hari ia bangun, dan benih itu bertunas dan tumbuh, bagaimana terjadinya tidak diketahui orang itu” (Mrk. 4: 26-27). |
Perumpamaan tentang benih yang bertumbuh dan biji sesawi yang disampaikan Yesus sama-sama menegaskan satu hal penting: Kerajaan Allah sering dimulai dari sesuatu yang kecil, bertumbuh perlahan, dan bekerja secara misterius di luar kendali manusia.
Yesus berkata: “Benih itu bertunas dan tumbuh, bagaimana terjadinya tidak diketahui orang itu” (Mrk 4:27). Petani menabur benih, lalu tidur dan bangun seperti biasa. Ia tidak mengontrol proses pertumbuhan itu. Benih bertumbuh karena hukum kehidupan yang dikerjakan Allah sendiri. Demikian pula Kerajaan Allah: manusia menabur, tetapi Allah yang menumbuhkan.
Ada seorang misionaris yang bertahun-tahun bekerja di sebuah desa terpencil. Ia merasa gagal. Umat tidak bertambah, kehidupan ekonomi tetap miskin, program pastoral tidak berkembang. Ia merasa kurang pandai, kurang kreatif, dan khotbahnya tidak menginspirasi. Ia sedih dan merasa malu pada dirinya sendiri dan pimpinannya.
Suatu hari, seorang pengusaha sukses dan dermawan datang menemuinya. “Pastor masih ingat saya? Saya anak yang dulu Pastor sembunyikan di pastoran karena mau dipukuli orang banyak karena sering mencuri.”
Pastor itu mengernyitkan dahi, lalu tersenyum samar.
“Ya, saya ingat. Tapi saya dengar sekarang kamu sudah menjadi orang yang sangat berhasil dan banyak berbuat baik.”
Pengusaha itu menjawab: “Semua itu karena satu kalimat yang Pastor ketika saya bertanya mengapa Pastor menyelamatkan saya: Saya percaya kamu akan menjadi orang baik dan berjasa bagi banyak orang. Kalimat itu menjadi benih yang mengubah hidup saya.”
Tindakan kasih yang sederhana dan kata yang tampaknya sepele ternyata menjadi benih Kerajaan Allah yang bertumbuh besar dalam diri seseorang. Bukan karena kehebatan sang misionaris, tetapi karena Allah secara misterius menumbuhkan benih itu di dalam hati manusia.
Sering kali kita berkata: Saya tidak pandai berbicara, saya tidak menguasai Kitab Suci, saya bukan teolog, saya tidak punya talenta pastoral, saya tidak punya modal untuk berderma, dan masih banyak litani kekurangan yang kita ucapkan.
Daftar kekurangan itu sering menjadi dalih untuk tidak terlibat dalam karya Kerajaan Allah.
Padahal, di balik itu tersimpan sebuah kesombongan tersembunyi: kita berpikir bahwa keberhasilan Kerajaan Allah tergantung pada kemampuan kita.
Ketika kita ingin melakukan hal-hal besar, kita menjadi takut karena merasa tidak mampu.
Yesus justru mengajak kita untuk setia dalam hal-hal kecil. Melalui dua perumpamaan ini Ia mengajak kita untuk percaya pada karya Allah yang tersembunyi dan setia dalam hal-hal sederhana: jujur dalam pekerjaan, sabar mendidik anak yang tampak tidak peduli, setia berdoa meski singkat, ramah menyapa sesama, dan rajin mendoakan orang sakit dan yang menderita. Semua itu mungkin tampak kecil, tetapi itulah benih-benih Kerajaan Allah.
Kerajaan Allah tidak selalu lahir dalam mukjizat besar dan proyek spektakuler. Ia sering kali tumbuh seperti benih kecil yang jatuh ke tanah, bertunas dalam diam, dan berkembang perlahan. Tugas kita bukanlah membuat benih itu tumbuh, tetapi menaburnya dengan setia.
Allah sendirilah yang akan menumbuhkannya menurut cara dan waktu-Nya.
Apa yang dilakukan Daud dalam 2Sam.11:1-4 justru menampilkan hal yang sebaliknya. Ia telah melakukan hal-hal besar di mata manusia. Namun, ia gagal untuk setia dalam hal kecil: gagal mengendalikan dirinya, gagal dalam membatasi diri untuk tidak mengambil apa yang telah menjadi milik orang lain. Kegagalannya dalam hal kecil ini akhirnya telah menjadi sumber dan awal kehancurannya.
Semoga kita tidak jatuh seperti Daud. Sebab, kita selalu ingin menabur benih Kerajaan Allah dan bukan benih kejahatan, dan menyadari dari benih yang kecil akan tumbuh tanaman yang besar, karena ada tangan-tangan ilahi yang bekerja secara misterius.
