| Renungan hari ini dari bacaan Yeremia 23: 5 – 8; Matius 1: 18 – 24. “Sesungguhnya, waktunya akan datang, demikian firman Tuhan, bahwa Aku akan menumbuhkan Tunas adil bagi Daud. Ia akan memerintah sebagai raja yang bijaksana dan akan melakukan keadilan dan kebenaran di negeri” (Yeremia 23 :5). |
Yeremia telah bernubuat bahwa Allah akan menumbuhkan tunas yang adil bagi Daud. Nubuat tersebut juga disampaikan untuk menegur dan mengingatkan bangsa Israel. Para nabi pada saat itu tidak dapat membawa bangsa Israel bertobat, kembali taat kepada Allah. Mereka telah terserak dan berjalan di jalannya sendiri, semakin jauh dari Allah yang memegang kendali hidup mereka.
Pohon itu sudah lemah, hampir mati, namun Allah menumbuhkan tunas yang berangsur-angsur tumbuh besar menjadi pohon yang rimbun, tempat bernaung bagi mahluk yang ada di bawahnya. Secara nalar hal tersebut mungkin tidak masuk akal. Namun, Tuhan menunjukkan bahwa dari tunas yang lemah, tidak berdaya, Ia dapat membuat pohon itu menjadi besar dan bermanfaat bagi mereka yang berada di sekitarnya.
Nubuat Yeremia tersebut digenapi melalui Perawan Maria yang melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki yang diberi nama Yesus. “Ia akan melahirkan anak laki-laki dan engkau akan menamakan Dia Yesus, karena Dialah yang akan menyelamatkan umat-Nya dari dosa mereka”(Matius 1:21).
Yesus Kristus disebut tunas Daud, Sang Tunas (Zakharia 3:8). Dari penampilan luarnya Ia tampak hina, sederhana. Pada awalnya Dia kecil, seperti tunas, muncul dari bumi, tumbuh menjadi pohon yang besar, hijau, dan berbuah. Dia lahir sebagai tunas dari keturunan Daud, tunas dari tunggul pohon yang sepertinya sudah kering dan mati serta tidak akan hidup kembali.
Dia Adalah tunas yang dilahirkan Allah, dikuduskan, dan diutus ke dalam dunia untuk menyelamatkan manusia dari belenggu dosa. Dia adalah Tunas Adil,sebab Dia sendiri benar, dan melalui Dia semua orang kepunyaan-Nya, akan dibela dan dibenarkan.
Dalam diri Daud kita melihat raja berfungsi seperti gembala yang memberi perhatian, tuntunan, dan hidup bagai rakyatnya. Yesus Kristus seperti Daud, bahkan lebih dari Daud, telah tampil sebagai Raja yang sekaligus gembala. Ia menghadirkan Kerajaan Allah di dunia ini, memerintah dengan bijaksana, dan memberikan damai sejahtera kepada manusia, terutama menyelamatkannya dari dosa. Dia adalah Juruselamat, yang berperan baik sebagai raja, imam, maupun nabi.
Dia sangat berbeda dengan para pemimpin Yahudi. Untuk menyelamatkan umat manusia, Yesus rela menderita dan mati sebagai seorang manusia yang terkutuk oleh Allah. Melalui kematian-Nya Dia memperlihatkan sekali untuk selamanya, kualitas yang dituntut dari seseorang pemimpin sejati: selalu siap melayani, walaupun harus mengalami kerugian maupun penderitaan.
Tuhan Yesus Kristus, ajari kami, terutama para pemimpin bangsa kami, agar selalu sadar dan siap melayani sesama kami, orang-orang yang kami pimpin sebagaimana telah Kautunjukkan kepada kami.
