Bacaan 1Raj 8:1-7.9-13 mengisahkan momen puncak dalam sejarah religius Israel, yakni pemindahan Tabut Perjanjian ke dalam Bait Allah yang telah dibangun oleh Raja Salomo. Tindakan ini bukan sekadar prosesi liturgis, melainkan peristiwa teologis yang sangat penting: Israel menegaskan bahwa Allah berkenan berdiam di tengah umat-Nya.
Salomo memindahkan Tabut dari Kota Daud ke Bait Allah sebagai tanda penghormatan dan ketaatan kepada Tuhan. Tabut Perjanjian TUHAN, yang berisi dua loh batu, dipahami sebagai simbol kehadiran Allah yang menyertai perjalanan umat sejak peristiwa Eksodus. Dengan menempatkan Tabut di Tempat Mahakudus, Salomo ingin menjadikan Bait Allah sebagai pusat ibadah, doa, dan identitas iman bangsa.
Peristiwa ini juga memiliki dimensi historis-teologis: Salomo menggenapi janji Tuhan kepada Daud bahwa keturunannya akan mendirikan rumah bagi nama Tuhan (bdk. 2Sam. 7). Karena itu, pemindahan Tabut bukan hanya tindakan religius, tetapi juga ekspresi kesetiaan dinasti Daud terhadap perjanjian ilahi.
Menarik bahwa prosesi tersebut melibatkan para tua-tua, pemimpin Israel, imam, dan orang Lewi. Ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman akan kehadiran Allah bukan milik pribadi raja, melainkan pengalaman komunal umat. Ketika Tabut ditempatkan di Tempat Mahakudus, “kemuliaan TUHAN memenuhi Rumah TUHAN” (1Raj. 8:11). Awan kemuliaan itu menandakan bahwa Allah sendiri menerima tempat tersebut sebagai ruang perjumpaan dengan umat-Nya.
Dalam Mrk. 6:53–56, Injil menggambarkan Yesus yang datang ke Genesaret dan disambut oleh banyak orang sakit yang berharap disembuhkan. Berbeda dengan Tabut yang menjadi tanda kehadiran Allah, dalam diri Yesus kehadiran Allah menjadi personal dan nyata. Orang-orang yang hanya menyentuh jumbai jubah-Nya pun disembuhkan.
Dalam Perjanjian Lama, kehadiran Allah dimediasi melalui simbol sakral seperti Tabut. Dalam Injil, kehadiran Allah menjelma dalam pribadi Yesus sendiri. Yesus bukan sekadar tanda, melainkan Imam Agung yang menghadirkan Allah secara definitif di tengah manusia. Ia tidak membawa kurban hewan, melainkan mempersembahkan diri-Nya sendiri sebagai jalan keselamatan (bdk. Ibr. 9:11–12). Jika Tabut ditempatkan di Tempat Mahakudus yang tak boleh dimasuki sembarang orang, maka dalam Yesus, Allah “keluar” menjumpai manusia di jalan-jalan, desa, dan pasar. Dengan kata lain, Tabut Perjanjian menunjuk secara tipologis kepada kehadiran Allah yang lebih sempurna dalam Kristus.
Dari kedua bacaan ini kita melihat bahwa iman Israel dan iman Gereja bertumpu pada pengalaman yang sama: Allah tidak jauh, tetapi berkenan hadir di tengah umat-Nya.
Seperti Salomo yang membangun Bait Allah, ingin menyediakan tempat yang layak bagi Tuhan, kita juga dipanggil untuk menyediakan “ruang” bagi Allah dalam hidup kita, bukan lagi terutama ruang fisik, melainkan ruang batin. Kita juga mau menyediakan ruang layak bagi Tuhan melalui kejujuran, tanggung jawab, dan kesetiaan dalam pekerjaan maupun pelayanan.
Dewasa ini tantangan terbesar justru bukan kurangnya tempat ibadah, melainkan kurangnya keheningan batin. Banyak orang hidup dalam ritme yang sangat cepat: dipenuhi notifikasi, pekerjaan, target, dan tekanan sosial. Akibatnya, pengalaman akan kehadiran Tuhan menjadi kabur. Bait Allah secara fisik ada, tetapi “ruang batin” sering kosong. Orang mudah memeriksa ponsel puluhan kali dalam satu jam, tetapi sulit menyediakan lima menit untuk doa hening.
Dalam terang Injil hari ini, kehadiran Yesus justru dialami oleh mereka yang mendekat, bahkan hanya dengan menyentuh jumbai jubah-Nya. Ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman akan Tuhan sering lahir dari sikap sederhana: mencari, mendekat, dan percaya.
Yang lebih penting lagi, seperti Kristus telah menghadirkan Allah, kita pun kini dipanggil menjadi tanda kehadiran Allah antara lain dengan menguatkan mereka yang lemah, sakit, dan putus asa
